In 2006 Church Leaders in Egham and District, part of the Staines & Feltham Circuit invited their local police to the first Police and Church Leaders Breakfast in a local restaurant, this has now become a 6 monthly, much looked forward to, event.

From this has come the exciting post of a Police Community Youth Pastor. Dan West was appointed to this position last November, his desk is in the local police station and his funding has come from local churches in Egham Hythe (where the main part of Dan's work is focused)The Methodist S.E. District, and local Borough Council.

After establishing links with local young people Dan is currently supporting 4 young lads all of whom are on ABC’s (appropriate behaviour contracts). He is helping them to gain self-worth and explore career options. After Easter Dan hopes to set up an after schools club, youth club and continue working with young people identified to him by the local police. Dan looks like your typical youth worker and he is keen that he is seen to be such. Although based in the police station he is a civilian and therefore doesn’t wear any sort of uniform.
